Improve Skin’s Appearance
Microdermabrasion involves the use of tiny crystals that are sprayed on the skin and then suctioned aid in exfoliation. It helps correct problems such as dull skin, fine lines, brown spots, and age spots. This highly effective facial treatment benefits all skin types and colors leaving no scaring, discoloration or any other permanent side effects. Skin is temporarily pink in color, but that lasts only 24 hours.
The skin consists of two main layers, the dermis and the epidermis. The epidermis is the layer closest to the outside with the topmost layer being the stratum corneum. This layer serves as a barrier for the lower skin levels, protecting it from harmful elements of the outside world.
This barrier is the reason only a portion of your products and moisturizers actually make it through to the lower level, preventing them from benefiting the deeper layers of the skin. Minor imperfections such as fine lines and blemishes occur here in the stratum corneum layer. Microdermabrasion does wonders to correct these problems and others such as sun damage, dull skin all while cleaning out clogged pores and reducing the appearance of their size. Microdermabrasion does all of its work here, no deeper than this layer. That is how it corrects these skin problems without leaving behind any scarring, any deeper into the skin’s surface could result in pain and a risk of embedding granules into the skin.
Microdermabrasion exfoliates the stratum corneum layer of the skin; with this layer broken up, your lotions or any product applied can now deeply penetrate your skin allowing full benefits to be achieved. Appling moisturizer and sun block following treatment is very important and incredibly beneficial. Your body also starts to produce healthy new skin cells to replace that layer. This creates a smoother surface and allows the removal of those minor imperfections that were residing in that skin layer (sun damage, fine lines, etc…).
Microdermabrasion is not for everyone; certain skin conditions cannot be treated with microdermabrasion and can in fact be further irritated by the service if attempted anyway. If any of the following conditions are present, do not seek microdermabrasion: Active oral herpes, any open wounds or skin lesions, active rosacea, dermatitis, warts or lupus.
Booking a consultation with an experienced medical professional is the best way to see if you’re a candidate for microdermabrasion. It will also provide you the opportunity to gain insight into what additional treatments may be necessary for any existing skin condition you may have.
